Oak Glen Culture club will host The Steel Wheels Nov. 13

NEW CUMBERLAND - The Oak Glen Middle School Culture Club will host The Steel Wheels Nov. 13 at the school.

Opening acts Luis Neer and Tangled Wallflowers will take the stage at 7 p.m., and The Steel Wheels will begin their performance at 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults. Tickets at the door are $10.

Young Women's Forum scheduled

WHEELING - The Ohio Valley African-American Student Association, Youth Services Systems and Laughlin Memorial Chapel are sponsoring "The Young Women's Forum: You, Me and Us" from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the chapel.

The forum is open to young women in eighth through 12th grade and will discuss self-image, self-esteem, self-worth and pathways to success.

Panelists include Martha Polinsky, Ohio County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition project coordinator; Jeanette Rideout, resident, business owner and mother; Jessica Washington, registered nurse; Chermayne Davis, artist and youth advocate; and Amena Anderson, West Liberty University retention specialist.

The forum is free, and parents are encouraged to attend and contribute.

PTA seeks clothing donations

WELLSBURG -The Brooke County Council PTA seeks donations of new coats and shoes as well as other children's clothing in good condition for the Brooke County Clothes Closet.

Prom gown sale

set for Saturday

WEIRTON - The Second Chance Prom Gown Rally will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Weirton Family Resource Center located at 371 New York Blvd.

Gowns and dresses will be sold "as-is," and all sales are final. No debit or credit cards will be accepted; cash and checks only will be accepted. There is a $100 fee for returned checks. Those wanting to sell gowns may drop them off from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Prom, homecoming and pageant gowns are being accepted. Gowns must be on hangers. The showing fee is $1 for short gowns and $2 for long gowns, and Keep The Rally Moving will take a 10 percent commission on sold gowns. The gowns will be previewed on Facebook. Those selling gowns may pick up their money and unsold gowns from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

PTA to hold

bazaar Saturday

WELLSBURG - The Wellsburg Middle School PTA will hold a Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the school, located at 1447 Main St.

Organizers said the event is a perfect opportunity to begin Christmas shopping, with a variety of household items, including jewelry and cooking items, as well as Christmas crafts suitable for gifts or for one's own decorating, for sale. There also will be a Chinese auction.
