WHEELING - Voters across the nation head to the polls today to cast their ballots in the 2012 general election.

Polls in West Virginia and Ohio open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.

West Virginia voters must make certain they are casting their ballot at the proper voting precinct. If a voter is unsure where he or she votes, contact the county clerk or election office. In West Virginia, questions about voting, polling places and elections can be answered by calling the following phone numbers: Brooke County, (304) 737-3661; Hancock County, (304) 564-3311; Marshall County, (304) 845-1220; Ohio County, (304) 2334-3750; Tyler County, (304) 758-2102; and Wetzel County, (304) 455-8224.

Ohio voters, meanwhile, must bring identification with them to the polls. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid driver's license or photo identification card issued by the state of Ohio or the federal government; military identification; a current utility bill; a current bank statement; a current government check; or a current paycheck.

Ohio voters with questions should call: Belmont County, (740) 526-0188; Harrison County, (740) 942-8866; Jefferson County, (740) 283-8522; and Monroe County, (740) 472-0929.
