MOSCATO, Irene "Florina" Maria, 83, passed away at the home of her son Tony in Upland Heights, Yorkville, OH, on Monday, November 5, 2012. She had been experiencing congestive heart failure for two years and passed peacefully in her sleep.
She was born on May 17, 1929, in Calabria, Italy and came to the U.S. in 1948 to be reunited with her father. She was married to Frank A. Moscato in 1950 and raised five sons as a full time homemaker.
She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tiltonsville, OH, and loved Jesus her entire life.
Irene was also a member of St. Francis of Assisi, Lincoln-Italian American Club in Yorkville, OH, Yorkville Women's Auxiliary, Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and Catholic Daughters of America.
Irene "Nana" was known for her knitting and crocheting of blankets, scarves and hats. She was also a wonderful cook and made the best pizza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Saverio anted Carmella Pulice, her husband Frank A. Moscato, brothers Giovann (John) Giardino of Yorkville and Michele "Mike" Giardino of Weirton, WV and sister, Angela Calcagnini of Rome, Italy.
Surviving are her five sons, Anthony "Tony" Moscato of Upland Heights Yorkville/Niceville FL., Valentino (Virginia) Moscato of Dillonvale, OH, Sam Moscato of Gahanna, OH, Michael (Elaine) Moscato of Columbus, OH, and Joseph (Ellen) Moscato of Powell, OH. She was a proud grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 13 children. She also had several loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Borkoski Funeral Home in Tiltonsville, OH, on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8- p.m.
Mass and Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tiltonsville, OH, with Msgr Gene Mullett the celebrant.
