Residents advised

to lock vehicles

WINTERSVILLE - Cross Creek Township Police Chief Steve Maguschak is advising residents in the Bantam Ridge and Forest View areas to keep their vehicles locked.

Maguschak said eight vehicles have been ransacked since Nov. 1.

"We're trying to let people know to lock their cars," he said. "Obviously, we have someone walking or driving around looking for unlocked vehicles. People can't leave their cars unlocked."

Maguschak said some of the vehicles were ransacked only, but items were stolen from others.

"The most severe was about $1,000 worth of tools stolen from a truck," he said.

He said police continue to investigate, but an individual who was apprehended on a drug charge in Steubenville is facing a charge of receiving stolen property. "Other property was recovered, and we're checking to see if it's connected to another of our thefts," he added.
