Department holds meeting

WEIRTON - The Weirton Woman's Club Garden Department met Oct. 9 at Undo's at Holiday Inn - Weirton with Chair Sharon Neeley presiding.

Neeley welcomed members and guests and thanked hostess Patty Nixon for the decorations.

Helen Brancazio gave the inspiration, reading "A Tinge of Fall is in the Air" and "Dear God." Secretary Diana Durst read the minutes, and Treasurer Jeanne Amidon gave the treasurer's report. Courtesy Chair Dawn Neeley reported 23 members and one guest were in attendance.

Program Chair Lea Shirer announced the November meeting program would be "Thanksgiving Bounty" and the members were asked to donate food items for the Salvation Army. Hospitality Chair Patty Nixon noted Diana Durst would be November hostess.

Membership Chair June Pulice welcomed Carol Bable as a new member to the department.

Neeley discussed the upcoming Calendar Luncheon that will be held in April with Victoria Gerst as the entertainment. Members signed up to decorate the table of their choice. Tables are decorated with a theme for each calendar month of the year and the four seasons.

The department's recent project was "Flower Power Bulbs," which ended in October and orders will be ready for distribution in early November. Proceeds will be used to beautify the Mary H. Weir Library lawn.

Other departments' upcoming meetings and programs were announced. Neeley announced the Hancock County Holiday Home Tour will be held Saturday.

The department's program was "Pumpkin Patch Parade." Members decorated pumpkins or made an arrangement including pumpkins. Members voted for their favorite entries, and June Pulice won first place and Carol Village won second.

The Weirton Woman's Club is a Greater Federation of Women's Clubs of West Virginia member club.
