Thanksgiving baskets

Mingo Junction Social Services on Tuesday distributed 240 Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families. Canned goods and other food items were collected by groups and individuals representing churches and schools, including the student council and National Junior Honor Society at Indian Creek Middle School. The Wal-Mart Distribution Center donated 650 pounds of meat products and 60 boxes of dried food goods. Helping with the distribution were, from left, Beth Rupert-Warren, executive director of the United Way of Jefferson County; Sophie Schoolcraft, director of Mingo Social Services; Cynthia Torian of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center; Malinda Lewis, general manager of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center; Sean Arai, an employee of the distribution center; and Cathy DiBenedetto, adviser of the Indian Creek Middle School National Junior Honor Society. - Mark Law
