Farm week starts
The Jefferson County Farm Bureau is observing Farm-City Week today through Thursday as part of the promotion by the Ohio Farm Bureau and Our Ohio. Jeanine Smith, seated, office administrator, and Mary Ellen Grafton, woman’s promotion and education chairman, show off placemats that will be delivered to eight local restaurants today. The placemats carry a simple prayer to say at meal time and feature children’s games and interesting farm facts to remind diners that farming is a major industry in the state. The bureau’s new location, Suite B, 587 Bantam Ridge Road, Wintersville, the former Bantam Ridge School, is listed as well. An open house is planned for the Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District, the Ohio State University Extension Office and the Farm Bureau from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 14.
