Anthony D’Ulisse

D'ULISSE, Anthony Guy "Tony," 79, of Follansbee, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Tony was born on January 3, 1933, in Follansbee, WV, a son of the late Joseph and Adele (Fante) D'Ulisse. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Gina Ruggieri.

He graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central in 1950. Tony was a Korean War veteran of the Army.

He is a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where his wife, Josephine has been the secretary for 31 years. He was a self-employed contractor in his early years, and later retired from Follansbee Steel Corporation where he worked in maintenance for over 20 years.

Tony has been a devoted head trustee for many years of the Follansbee Garibaldi Lodge and the heart and soul of the organization.

Since the inception of the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival 30 years ago, he has served on the board.

His other memberships include the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus, the Italian Sons and Daughter of America, the American Legion and V.F.W.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Josephine (Marchetti) D'Ulisse, whom he married on May 4, 1957; four loving children, Tina (David) Owen of Follansbee, WV, Joseph (Karyn) D'Ulisse of Steubenville, OH, Tony (Sherri) D'Ulisse of Follansbee, WV, and Angela (Tim) Thompson of Follansbee, WV; his brother, Nick (Anita) D'Ulisse of Follansbee, WV; eight grandchildren, Erica Owen, Daniel (Kaylee) Owen, Adrienne (Jayson) Daugherty, Zack D'Ulisse, John-Anthony D'Ulisse, Krista D'Ulisse, Domenic D'Ulisse, and Viktor Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elias Owen, and Katelynn and Aiden Daugherty also survive, along with several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 17 from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, November 18th from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV. Vigil service will be held Sunday, November 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati celebrating the mass with Msgr. Paul Hudock and the Rev. Fr. Pete Giannamore as con-celebrants.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, WV. Full military honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 1017 Jefferson St., Follansbee, WV 26037; or the Valley Hospice at 10686 St. Route, 150 Rayland, OH 43943.

The family would like to especially thank the Acuity Hospital and Staff along with The Valley Hospice Doctor's and Staff and Dr. Ramana Murty for the excellent care Tony received.
