JOINS STAFF: Pediatrician Elizabeth W. Massella has joined the staff of physicians at Weirton Medical Center.

A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Massella completed her residency and internship in pediatrics at University Hospital of Cleveland and is board certified in pediatrics and addiction medicine.

In addition to the hospital, Massella will be practicing at her Paris, Pa., office at 560 Steubenville Pike.

FUNDRAISER: Bob Evans Farms marked World Diabetes Day last week by holding its first national community fundraiser to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the world's largest charitable funder of research toward curing, treating and preventing type 1 diabetes and its complications .

Bob Evans donated 15 percent of sales to JDRF when guests presented a special JDRF Flyer on Wednesday for dine-in, carry-out or catering.

Type 1 diabetes strikes children and adults at any age. It comes on suddenly, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S., affecting more than 20 million people.

"Most of us know someone who struggles with diabetes, and we recognize that it's a daily challenge to live with it," says Bob Evans Farms Inc. chairman and CEO Steve Davis. "That's why Bob Evans has supported research for a cure for 20 years and why we're so pleased to support JDRF in their work to end this disease."
