Let’s stand up and be leaders

November 18, 2012
Weirton Daily Times

To the editor:

The election is over. Some are glad and some are sad, but this is not the time for Monday morning quarterbacking, gloating, calling names or pointing fingers. This is the time for action.

Please write your congressman stating: First, you want no more congressional gridlock. Second, that you want your representative to act like a statesman and not a partisan politician. Third, demand that Congress act to get a balanced budget passed with no deficit spending. Fourth, reduce government spending so that we live within our income. Fifth, make provisions with appropriate cuts in spending as to reduce the federal debt.

Send your letter by e-mail or snail-mail to: U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, 217 Cannon House Office Building, Washington, D.C. 20515; or Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, 713 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20510.

Also send a letter to President Barack Obama, White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C.

Time is running out. Do we want to be like Greece or Spain? We are the leaders of the world. Let's act like it.

Albert Pavlik Jr.
