To the Editor,
Bravo to Rine Karate Studio and its students for their recent "Kick-A-Thon" fundraiser, which benefitted the Hancock County Animal Shelter!
The animal shelter, like many of our other non-profits, has faced numerous hardships in the past few years. From decreased funding to a staggering amount of animal intakes, just keeping the shelter running day-to-day sometimes feels like a huge challenge.
That's why it was so wonderful to see this group of students, and those who sponsored them, take such an active role in helping our shelter. I had the privilege of being able to spend the day at the "Kick-A-Thon" on November 10th, and it was such a joy to see the students and their families so excited about doing something good for the community.
I would like to personally thank all of the participants and their sponsors and Rine Karate Studio for having this event. It is because of people like them that we can continue to operate the Hancock County Animal Shelter in a humane and caring way.
