One killed in area head-on collision

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed that one person was killed and others were injured in a head-on two-vehicle collision on state Route 150 Saturday.

Officials with the highway patrol hadn't released the name of the deceased, pending notification of the person's family. Other details were unavailable.

The Mount Pleasant and Dillonvale fire departments also were dispatched to the scene of the accident, which was reported at about 5:30 p.m.

Park to hold lightup Saturday

WELLSBURG - Brooke Hills Park will hold its Christmas light-up at 6 p.m. Saturday.

In addition to lighting the park for the holidays, the event will include a screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and refreshments.

It also will offer visitors an opportunity to view the Brooke County Veterans Memorial Park, a recent addition to the park, lighted at night.

Road work announced

The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced minor road work to be performed this week, pending suitable weather.

In Hancock County, crews will be patching Tope, Shady Glen and Carothers roads; ditching along Middle Run and Patterson roads; and mowing along Kings Creek, North Fork and Hudson Hill roads.

In Brooke County, crews will be patching Cross Creek Road and pulling shoulders and ditches along state Route 67.
