Redskins top Bellaire

BELLAIRE - The Indian Creek girls basketball team pitched a first-quarter shutout and rolled to a 56-25 victory at Bellaire Thursday.

Bre Berryman led the way with 17 points. Brooke Mains added 16 and Kiarra Kamarec for the 4-1 Redskins, who visit Buckeye Local on Monday.

Indian Creek led 18-0 after eight minutes and did not allow a Bellaire player to reach double figures.

The Redskins (4-1) travel to Buckeye Local (0-4) Monday.

Riders stop Panthers

MARTINS FERRY - Jessica Kinney scored a game-high 23 points Thursday as the Martins Ferry girls basketball team defeated visiting Buckeye Local, 55-41.

The Purple Riders moved to 4-0, while the Panthers fell to 0-4.

Alexis Valuska led Buckeye Local with 12 points. Kayla Fillipovich added nine.

Buckeye Local hosts Indian Creek Monday.

Jets beat Wildcats

RICHMOND - After holding Union Local to just two points in the first quarter, the Edison girls basketball team was outscored 51-23 en route to a 53-31 loss Thursday.

Katelyn Pollock scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Wildcats. Molly McCoy was the team's second-leading scorer with six.

Edison (0-4) looks to get its first win Monday at St. Clairsville.
