CHESTER - Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort team members provided holiday gifts for 64 area children when they participated in the annual tradition of adopting children from the Salvation Army Angel Tree.
"Mountaineer Casino's team members generously provided toys and other holiday gifts to assist the Salvation Army once again," Chris Kern, general manager said. "The gifts left at the Angel Tree will help to bring joy to local children who might not otherwise have a Christmas."
The social service organization determines needy children in the community and coordinates the Angel Tree project with local businesses and organizations.
Each December, Mountaineer team members help by choosing a wish list from the tree located in the employee dining room. Toys and gifts are then distributed to the local children by the Salvation Army.
Thus far during this holiday season, with the help of their patrons, Mountaineer has hosted two canned good drives for the Salvation Army and donated more than 500 toys to the Tri-State Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Mountaineer has also provided nearly 800 Thanksgiving turkeys to local social service organizations.
