STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Big Red boys basketball team fell behind 4-0 to open its Friday night encounter with Edison at the Crimson Center.

That was about the only thing Big Red did wrong as it went on a 17-0 run from there and cruised to an impressive 71-27 victory over the Wildcats.

"They started off up 4-0, and we called a timeout," said Big Red head coach Mike Haney. "We didn't seem to be playing good team defense. We were just running behind picks and chasing guys.

"They were running the flex and doing a good job moving the ball. We were just chasing them and they hit a couple shots early. Once we made a bucket we got into our full court pressure and it helped us a little bit."

Big Red saw every player enter the scoring column on the evening and stayed consistently dominant from start to finish. Tajuan Lawson and Mylik Young each scored 14 to lead the way with Adam Sterling adding 11.

"It was good," said Haney of his team's performance. "Everybody on the team contributed. That's always nice to see everyone in the game getting minutes because throughout the season you never know what's going to happen.
