To the Editor,
Some thoughts and opinions on some items in the news.
Michigan's RTW: Regardless of the union stand, I say it is morally, and in my opinion, legally wrong to force a person to pay union dues if they do not wish to join. There are people who are satisfied with what they get and can live nicely on what they get and don't need your service.
Separation of church and state: I think Congress should pass legislation that would grandfather any display of religious items on public property that have been in place for 50 years or more and not be forced to remove said items and ban any future displays on public land. If no one objected when they were built, why should they now. Then let it stay.
The Newtown, Conn. shootings: How sick can anyone be to shoot little children? How devastated can these people be who lost these innocents in such a horrific manner? We can only pray for them.
The mess in DC: The only way we will get anything out of the current bunch in charge is for major change. Vote all those entrenched people out and elect those who will rule by the Constitution, not the parties' agendas. It would also hep if there was a third party that would do what is right for the country.
United Nations and foreign aid: Stop funding the UN operations and disband the UN as they do nothing to make the world safer. We spend $50 billion a year on the UN. Stop sending money to all countries, especially the Islamic countries who are planning our destruction. We need to get tough with those who hurt us like they did in Benghazi and not let something like that happen again without retaliation.
Last, Obama rule: I said it before and I will say it again. You ain't seen nothing yet. It's only going to get worse. I can live another 50 years and I will be unable to see what significant thing Obama did in his first four years that got him re-elected. I guess you can't get into the entitlements. Let's pray that we can make it to 2016.
God bless us all.
