Angeline Alloggia

marks 100th

Angeline Alloggia, a resident of Heritage Village Senior Apartments, 3010 Johnson Road, Steubenville, celebrated her 100th birthday Monday.

The daughter of the late Louis and Palma Palazzone, she was born on Dec. 31, 1912, in Foster, Pa.

Her siblings were Jennie Rensi, Margaret Marancci, Mary Tipton, Elizabeth Detri, Deloris Vansickle, Arthur Palazzone, Jim Palazzone Jr. and Alek Palazzone, all deceased.

She and her husband, James Alloggia, who died Feb. 18, 1975, were married on June 3, 1928, and made their home in his hometown of Piney Fork.

They had three sons: Fred, Robert and Jim, who is deceased. The family also includes seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Her hobbies include Tuesday night bingo and 31 card game. She became a resident of Steubenville and the Heritage Village Senior Apartments on Dec. 21, 2000.

Management has determined that she has walked 800 in-house miles in her 12-year residency at Heritage Village.

Satellite veterans

office to be open

The satellite office of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Dillonvale American Legion, Liberty Street, Dillonvale, to assist veterans, dependents of veterans and/or veterans' widows with Veterans Administration pensions, compensations, burials, schooling, medical assistance and other veterans' benefits.

For information or assistance, call the Veterans Service Office at (740) 283-8571 or visit the office at 423 North St., Steubenville. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed every Wednesday afternoon to the public.

The Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361 has announced the following upcoming events in January:

Purple Circle

Honor members were recognized at the Purple Circle 4-H Club end-of- the-year banquet held at the East Springfield Community Center.

Cliff Wood, adviser, presented certificates and pins in the gold category to:

Taylor Grafton, Nathan Grafton, Kayla Wood, Jacob Wilson, Catherine Walden, Mackinzie Waggoner, Dylan Waggoner, Colby Smith, Morgan Roe, Nicholas Ramsey, Tyler McAfee, Dustin McAfee, Chessa Cunningham and Cole DeGarmo.

Pins in the silver category were presented to:

Troy Sargeant, Cheyenne Roe, Charlie Tressler, Ethan Sharpe and Kayea Bell.

New members taken into the club were Abby, Emileah and Dylan Newburn.

Special guests who did special duties for the club also were recognized, including Bill and Cheryl Wilson, Bill and Mary Wilson, Diane Salisburg, Ron Martin, Rich and Sue Davis, Frank and Janine Yeske and Esther and Lamont McCoy.
