MAXWELL, Robert Charles,, Sr., 79, of Columbus, OH, passed away on Jan. 1, 2013, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Bob was born March 20, 1933, in Steubenville, OH to Zetta (Lee) and Robert E. Maxwell.

He was a graduate of Steubenville "Big Red" High School, class of 1952. While in High School, he was active in the Mingo Junction Drum and Bugle Corp. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the 15th Medical Battalion, 1st Calvary Division. He was a veteran of the Korean War, first serving as a soldier in the infantry and later as a combat medic. Bob worked for Ohio Bell/At&T and retired from AT&T 25 years ago. After his retirement from AT&T, he was self- employed as a telecommunications consultant at Ross Labs, Bank One and Chase Bank. He was a Past Commander of The American Legion Post 239, Worthington, OH where he was been a member for 48 years. He was also a member of the 40 & 8 and life member of New Outlook Pioneers. Bob has been an active member of the Bethel International United Methodist Church for the past 25 years. He worked for many years at the Farm Science Review and was active in Adult Sunday School and Hospitality. Bob enjoyed ballroom dancing, salmon fishing and vacationing with his family. He had the Irish gift of storytelling and loved to tell stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jo Ann Muldovan.

He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 56 years, Barbara (Putnam) Maxwell; his devoted children, Cindi (Steve) Rosenbauer, Susan (Mike) Ridge, and Bob (Cindy) Maxwell, Jr.; his loving grandchildren, Maria (Jay) Leiss, Laura (Jonathan) Hamilton, Katie Rosenbauer and fiance, Michael Snellgrove, Erika Rosenbauer, Christine Ridge and Robert Ridge; and precious great-grandchildren, Abigail and Ashley Leiss, Clayton Rosenbauer, and Charley Ann Snellgrove. He is also survived by niece, Jodi Vallette; nephews, Ronnie and Patrick Muldovan; and cousins, Tom Maxwell and June Marzack.

Family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, from 7-9 p.m. at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just south of I-270). The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1220 Bethel Rd., Columbus, Pastors Mike Pratt and Miran Lee, officiating. Visitation will be at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Interment at Blendon Twp. Cemetery.
