Colliers United Methodist set to
hold annual Super Soup Sale
COLLIERS - The Colliers United Methodist Church will hold its annual Super Soup Sale fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at the church located at 318 Pennsylvania Ave., across from the Colliers Post Office.
Potato soup, both with and without dumplings; vegetable soup; and chicken noodle soup will be for sale. The cost is $5 per quart. Only take-out will be available. Delivery will be available for orders of 10 or more quarts. All orders must be made by Jan. 29.
The fundraiser supports the church youth group.

Volunteer tax assistance offered
FOLLANSBEE -The Brooke-Hancock-Ohio-Marshall Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will offer free income tax assistance to seniors and low-income families from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. each Tuesday, beginning Feb. 12.
Appointments should be made by calling (304) 527-3410.
The service is offered through AARP's Tax Counseling for the Elderly program.
Anyone interested in volunteering their time for the program also should call the above number.
Nominations sought for award
BETHANY - Nominations are sought for the Bethany College Alumnus of the Year award, which was established by the President's Office to recognize outstanding loyalty and accomplishment by Bethany alumni.
The award recognizes not one achievement, but is reserved for those who have attained and maintained excellence throughout their career and in their service to others, said college officials.
Recipients must hold a degree from Bethany College and demonstrate outstanding professional accomplishment and personal deeds on behalf of the college.
Nominations should be in the form of a letter detailing the nominees' strengths and sent to: Office of the President, Bethany College, Old Main, Bethany, WV 26032.
The director of alumni and parent relations and president's cabinet will serve as the screening committee for the award, and the president will choose the recipient.
Volunteers needed for tax assistance
WEIRTON - C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc. needs people to assist individuals with low to moderate incomes in preparing their tax returns.
The free assistance is provided through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by the Northern Panhandle Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition and aimed at informing people of the credit and other credits and deductions they may take.

Location, volunteers sought
FOLLANSBEE - The Brooke-Hancock-Ohio-Marshall Retired and Senior Volunteer Program seeks volunteers and a site for a planned afterschool program in the Wellsburg area.
RSVP leaders have been operating the Afterschool Adventures Program in Follansbee for a few years and would like to add another site.
Held at the Brooke County Senior Center and the former St. Anthony School, the program offers children homework assistance and a variety of activities.

Scholarship in memory of Caroline
BETHANY - Bethany College is supporting the Beta Theta Pi fraternity in the establishment of a scholarship in memory of Caroline Previdi, daughter of 1995 Bethany College graduate Jeff Previdi, who was among those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.
College officials said the endowment will ensure Caroline will be remembered in a positive way by providing annual scholarships to worthy students who are majoring in education.
