Woman hospitalized with head injury

STEUBENVILLE - A 31-year-old woman was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital Thursday with a serious head injury and her husband has been jailed on a pending charge of domestic violence, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reported.

Anne Rippee, 31, of 127 Euclid St., Amsterdam, was transported to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from Trinity Medical Center West after she came to Trinity saying she had a headache and was vomiting, a deputy reported. The sheriff's department was contacted after Rippee told a doctor she was in a domestic altercation with her husband.

A deputy arrested Daniel C. Rippee, 32, in the parking lot of the hospital.

Daniel Rippee said his wife was hitting him on Tuesday and he grabbed her arms, a deputy reported. The husband told a deputy his wife fell to the ground but he doesn't remember how. The sheriff's department reported there were bruises all over the wife's body.

The Pittsburgh hospital notified the sheriff's department Thursday evening that Anne Rippee was in serious condition with bleeding on the brain.

Boil order lifted

for water customers

FOLLANSBEE - A 24-hour boil order called for Follansbee's downtown water customers Wednesday has been lifted.

The order was called after crews repaired a line break that occurred at Rose Street behind the American Legion Post Wednesday morning.

Council to meet in executive session

STEUBENVILLE - City Council will meet in executive session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pugliese Conference Room to discuss personnel.

The regular council meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. in council chambers.

Village accepting shelter reservations

MINGO JUNCTION - Village officials will accept reservations from residents for shelter houses at Aracoma Park beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

The cost of the shelters are $100, large; $75, small; and $50, bocci court.

Woman claims armed robbery

STEUBENVILLE - A woman claims she was robbed at gunpoint around 1 p.m. Thursday in the alley between Maryland and Oregon avenues, City Police reported.

The woman said she was walking in the alley when a car pulled up and a man got out, police reported. The man pointed a handgun at her and demanded money, police reported. The woman said the man got back in to the car and fled the area, police reported.

Blood drives planned in coming weeks

American Red Cross blood drives are planned in the coming weeks, including the the 27th-annual Ohio Valley Media Blood Drive set from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.
