Bruins impressive on road

MORGANTOWN - Senior Eric Johnson scored 17 points in the first half to lead Brooke to a 46-31 lead over host University Friday night and the Bruins eventually earned a 80-62 victory over the Hawks.

Johnson finished with 24 points to lead four Bruins in double digits.

Hunter Wallace delivered 21, Austin Schambach 11 and Jesse Gambellin 10 as Brooke raised its record to 7-4 with its impressive road victory.

To top off a solid three quarters of play, Brooke held University to a mere four points in the third stanza and entered the final eight minutes with a 59-35 cushion.

The Bruins host Wheeling Park on Tuesday.

Crusaders stop Shamrocks

BARNSEVILLE - Steubenville Catholic Central's Ryan Fletcher took matters into his own hands early, often and it resulted in a monster night.

He scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the first quarter as the Crusaders raced to a 31-12 lead at Barnesville through eight minutes and cruised to a 78-59 victory Friday night.

Zach Herrington added 15, Michael Barber 13 and Michael Carapellotti and Brenton Colabella eight each as Catholic Central raised its record to 10-2.

The Crusaders host Bridgeport tonight and Wheeling Central Tuesday.

Huskies down Edison

CADIZ - Rashaen Mitchell scored a game-high 21 points as the Harrison Central boys basketball team defeated visiting Edison, 65-46, Friday night.

Fletcher Watt added 11 and Nick Pelegreen 10 for the Huskies, who host Bellaire Tuesday.

Alec Jones paced the Wildcats with 13 points. Dylan Jones added eight. Edison welcomes Martins Ferry on Tuesday.
