Oak Glen girls win

NEW MANCHESTER - The Oak Glen girls basketball team beat visiting Beaver Local 40-33 Saturday.

Oak Glen (6-4) was paced by standout Vanessa Hissam with a game-high 15 points to go along with 17 rebounds and four steals. Hissam has now reached double digits in scoring in nine of the Bears' 10 games.

Jessica Stivason chipped in eight points and six rebounds for Oak Glen, while Logan Andrews added five points and six rebounds.

Oak Glen entertains East Liverpool today at 7:15 p.m. in a varsity only game.

Bears fall on road

FAIRMONT - The Oak Glen boys basketball team lost at East Fairmont Saturday, 45-36.

Oak Glen was down 18-16 at the half. East Fairmont held a big advantage at the free throw line, going 15-of-22 compared to just 5-of-9 for Oak Glen.

Matt McLaughlin paced the Golden Bears with 11 points. Jakob Ford netted 10 points for the Bears, while Cody Howell tallied four points and six rebounds.

Oak Glen (2-9) hosts winless Weir High on Tuesday.

Potters down Wildcats

RICHMOND - Despite a strong fourth quarter comeback by Edison, the East Liverpool girls basketball team was able to hold on for a 73-66 victory on Saturday. The Potters led by 20 points heading into the final quarter, but the Wildcats responded with 32 points in the frame to make things interesting at the end.

Kayli Stewart led the Wildcats (1-12) with a career-high 17 points. Molly McCoy scored 16 points, followed by Katelyn Pollock with 14 and Maddy Hunter with eight.

Edison welcomes St. Clairsville today.
