WEIRTON - The Weirton Family Resource Center will hold an open house for Hancock and Brooke County residents from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the facility located at 371 New York St.
The resource center provides parents with child development training and materials, parenting skills training, parent-child activities, networking and referrals to social service agencies. It is open to all Hancock and Brooke county families.
There are no income eligibility requirements, and services are free. Direct services include play groups, support groups and after-school and summer programs, which provide homework help, tutoring and educational activities.
The organizations will be adding a teen area, where local teens will have a safe place to do homework and socialize with friends.
