Players holding auditions for

'Cemetery Club' today, Thursday

HICKORY, Pa. - The Old Schoolhouse Players will hold auditions for "The Cemetery Club," a two-act comedy written by Ivan Menchell and directed by Marcus Muzopappa, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at the Mount Pleasant Community Center located at 20 Wabash Ave.

The show have six performances from March 15-24. The cast requires four women and one male from their 50s to early 60s, with the ability to perform some physical comedy. Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script and will take about 20 minutes. Those who can come early and read with others are welcome to do so.

In "The Cemetery Club," three Jewish widows - Doris, content to cherish her husband's memory; Lucille, who takes revenge on her philandering late husband by never meeting a man she doesn't like; and Ida, who has mourned her husband and may be ready to find love again - meet for tea before going to visit their husbands' graves once a month.

When the widows meet Sam the butcher, who is visiting his wife's grave, romance blossoms between Sam and Ida. Their nascent relationship is threatened by the arrival of young and glamorous Mildred and Doris and Lucille's meddling.
