Weirton Elks Lodge to hold

wine-tasting Saturday

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Club will hold a wine-tasting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge located on Main St.

Wines made by the Tri-State Winemakers Club will be featured. Finger foods and glasses will be provided.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Athena Award nominees sought

CANONSBURG, Pa. - The Washington County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the Athena Award, which will be presented May 10 at the Hilton Garden Inn - Southpointe.

The deadline for nominations is March 1. Nomination forms can be found at

The award promotes women's leadership and honors outstanding leaders. Men and women living or working in Washington County are eligible for the award.

Candidates should demonstrate excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession; provide a valuable service that improves the quality of life for their community; and actively assist women in achieving their full leadership potential.

Both those in the profit and nonprofit fields are eligible, and there are no age qualifications.

The chamber's selection committee will review all nomination forms.

Group sought for festival parking

FOLLANSBEE - The Follansbee Community Days Committee seeks a nonprofit group to handle public parking during Follansbee Community Days, July 12-14.

The group will direct people parking at the youth football practice field near Jo-Jon's and collect a parking fee set by the city, which the group may keep.

The group will be selected through a drawing. Interested Follansbee organizations should submit their name, organization information and contact number in writing to the Follansbee City Building, P.O. Box 606, Follansbee, WV 26037 no later than 5 p.m. on April 1.
