St. Thomas Episcopal to host

Coleman's fish fry Friday

WEIRTON - St. Thomas Episcopal Church will hold a Coleman's fish fry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the church parish hall located at 300 Three Springs Drive.

Dinners include Coleman's fish, fries, coleslaw and a beverage. Take-out will be available. A fish fry will be held each Friday until Good Friday, March 29.

Advance orders can be submitted by calling the church at (304) 723-4120.

Country Friends host Stone Street

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host Stone Street Station Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance begins at 7 p.m.

Country Friends host covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Country Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Christianity, friendship and brotherly love through music. All proceeds go to charity.

Liver Life Walk set for June

PITTSBURGH - The American Liver Foundation Allegheny Chapter will hold the Liver Life Walk Pittsburgh 2013 June 9 at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.

The event is the national fundraising walk for the liver foundation. More than 15,000 people will participate across the country. Money raised through the event funds medical research, public education, patient support service and advocacy. All walkers who raise $100 or more will receive a Liver Life Walk T-shirt.

Last year, the Allegheny Chapter set a record by raising more than $105,000.

Those registering by Sunday will have their name entered into a drawing for a $50 Wal-Mart or Giant Eagle gift card, with a winner announced Feb. 18.

Elks lodge holding Pasta Sunday

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 Past Exalted Rulers will hold their monthly pasta dinner for members and guests from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the lodge located on Main Street in downtown Weirton.

The dinner includes salad, pasta, bread, butter, dessert and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's Pasta Sunday.

NRA holding pistol safety course

WEIRTON - A National Rifle Association Basic Pistol safety course will be held March 1-2 at the Hancock County Sportsmans Association.

The 12-hour course will include a four-hour session from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 1 and an eight-hour session, beginning at 9 a.m., March 2.

Certified NRA firearms instructors will present the course, which will include lectures and live-firing. The nationally accredited course is approved by multiple states, including West Virginia and Ohio, as a requirement for applying for a concealed carry permit.

Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited to ensure adequate live firing experience.
