After several years of collecting and being in different area shops, Sandra Parkins decided to fulfill a dream of owning her own antiques and collectibles shop. On March 8, 2012, Sandra opened the doors of Schoolhouse Collectibles in the Chester Municipal Building located at 600 Indiana Ave. in Chester, where she currently serves as city clerk.

Schoolhouse Collectibles features a wide array of glassware, including Fenton, Kanawha, Viking and Morgantown; pottery from Homer Laughlin China Co., including Fiesta and Hall China; and the former TS&T and Harker Potteries. Visitors to Schoolhouse Collectibles also will find kitchen items, sports memorabilia, figurines, music boxes, banks, salt and pepper shakers among many other items.

Schoolhouse Collectibles is now offering monthly specials, a monthly drawing for a gift certificate, shipping at the buyer's expense, layaways and holiday gift wrapping.

"I recently joined the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce but I have already been made to feel very welcome," said Parkins. "I hope to become an active member. I am looking forward to being a chamber member not only to be able to network with other business owners but to meet new friends."
