From the Pulpit: It's God's house, it's His rules

March 3, 2013
By THE REV. CRAIG M. GREATHOUSE - Family of God Christian Center , Weirton Daily Times

It's God's House! It's God's rules!

More than two decades ago, a newborn sick with fever was snatched from a New York City hospital, her frantic mother returning to the emergency room to find an empty crib. Twenty three years later a woman reached out to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children because she suspected that the people raising her were not her real family - has been found.

Carlina White was just 19 days old when she disappeared from Harlem Hospital on Aug. 4, 1987. Police searched for her kidnappers but never found enough evidence to charge any suspects. Her mother, Joy White, always had a feeling that her baby was alive, her family said.

For 23 years this woman was raised by people that she believed were her real family, but, something just didn't feel right, and something was indeed terribly wrong. The people who fed and clothed her, who put a roof over her head, who she called, mom and family, were really her worst enemies.

This is a true story, but I believe it is also a spiritual picture of what happens to us, and I don't mean your natural family. Satan has kidnapped our culture, and most of us along with the culture. We have been raised by a spirit of sin and rebellion in the last 50 years in America. In James 1:13-15, from the Bible, it says, "When sin is full grown, it gives birth to death." John 10:10, says, "the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give life and give it abundantly.

Take a few moments and ask yourself, does it feel like I was made for more than a life of brokenness, and rebellion against God? Maybe I belong to someone else! Maybe I'm supposed to be a child of God.

Dr. Reginald Kliminoch said, "The Edge of Disaster, and the Brink of a Miracle, Are the Same Place." I think we're there! But, which way will we go in this great nation? A very good pastor friend of mine told me several years ago, if a man sins, judgment comes against the man. If a city sins, I mean the leaders of the city go against God's Word, by legislating things into law that God calls sin, judgment comes against the city. If a state sins, judgment comes against that state, and if a nation sins, by it's leaders legislating into law those things that God calls sin, judgment comes against that nation. I thought at the time it was thought provoking and biblically proven, and it is today, as well.

I am alarmed and concerned that our president has become the poster-child for same-sex marriage, and homosexual rights along with many in our Senate and Congress, with no fear of judgment fom God. I'm equally alarmed that although our constitution gives us freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, that many in the media will cry, "you're a hatemonger," if you disagree with this lifestyle. Did you know that only 1.7 percent of the people in America are homosexual. Most national polls say that most Americans think the number is 25 percent, but out of 315 million people, only 5.3 million are homosexual or lesbian. It is time to pray for our cities, our counties, our state and nation, like never before, and lest I forget, if the church sins and rebels against God's Word, judgment will come against the church. It's time to repent of our sins, our pride and our rebellion against God and His Word. The word repent means to have a change of mind and heart and do an about-face, a 180 degree turn away from sin, and run to God.

In my house my wife and I make the rules. If our children came in from school one day and said, Jimmy said I didn't have to do what you say, I am my own god, and I can make my own rules. I would say, "Say-What"? This is our house, and we make the rules. When you get your own house you can make the rules. This is God's house, His planet, His universe, and when you get your own universe, you can make the rules. Not gonna happen!

But if the Bible is true, and it is, you will stand before God one day and so will I, and He will judge us. And all He really wants to know is, did you know my Son? God loves us! Enough to send His only Son to die for our sins. And He loves us enough to allow us to choose whether or not we believe in Him, or whether we want to follow Him. God doesn't really send us to Hell, He just let's us have our own way, and if we reject Him, we choose Hell. It's His house, it's His rules. Good News! God's arms are open wide to all of us who will really follow Him. It's an amazing life! Taste and see that the Lord is good.

America from it's birth was considered a Christian nation. Why would a nation be considered a Christian nation? Was the culture of America like the early church in the book of Acts and the whole New Testament of the Bible? Could it be, and it can be, historically proven, that America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

History proves that every great nation has fallen from within, from moral decay and a culture of sin. We now live in a world culture of sin! What happened to the Judeo-Christian culture that once permeated the land, when school children actually learned to read by reading the Bible?

We took God, not just out of our schools, but our culture, because we have raised generations from 1963 to 2013 to believe the beautiful universe that we live in wasn't created by a benevolent God, but by some accidental big bang theory that somehow, some way caused some slime to crawl up out of the water and miraculously evolve into people.

I'm sorry, but I don't have enough faith to be an atheist or evolutionist. But I have met God, and He's as awesome as you would expect God to be. He sent His Son, Jesus, to this earth, to redeem all mankind from the power of sin.

Author, Evangelist Ray Comfort, who hosts the program, "The Way of the Master," tells the story of a conversation he had with an atheist. He asked the man if he was intelligent. The man said, "yes!" Ray asked, "How much do you believe the most intelligent person in the world knows, about everything?" "Maybe 1 percent?" The man said, "probably." Ray asked the man, "now you're not the most intelligent person in the world,' right?" " You're intelligent, but not the most intelligent person in the world." The man again answered, "that's right," Ray asked, " If the most intelligent person in the world only knows 1 percent of all that can be known, and you're not lhim, do you think, maybe God could be in the 99 percent you don't know about?" "Because in order to know there is no God, you would have to know everything, right." The man answered, "If I am an intelligent person, I would have to say, Yes!"

If you don't know everything, and aren't the most intelligent person in the world, consider this, you already know that you don't know everyting, and if you're really intelligent, you will admit that maybe God is in the 99.1 percent that you don't know.

This isn't meant to be a message of gloom and doom, and it's surely not a message of hate. God loves us all! This is a message of Truth, and Hope. Think about it!
