WEIRTON - The Nifty Needles Neighborhood Group of the American Sewing Guild held their March meeting at the First Christian Church on Main Street with Leader Nancy Sanders welcoming the group. There were six in attendance.
The following events were announced:
Thursday through Sunday, "Love of Sewing Retreat" with Nancy Zieman, at the Doubletree Hotel near Meadowlands Racetrack in Washington, Pa.;
Friday through Sunday, "Knit and Crochet Event" at the North Shore Sheraton, Pittsburgh;
March 22-24, Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Festival;
March 27-29, Easter Arts and Crafts and Style Show, Monroeville Mall;
May 8-12, Arts and Crafts and Lifestyle Show at the Mall at Robinson;
May 22, Cleveland Expo of Sewing; and
Aug. 22-24, Original Quilt and Sew Expo in Monroeville, Pa.
The American Sewing Guild spring silver anniversary tea with speaker Donna Eicher will be held April 13 in Gibsonia, Pa.
During show-and-tell, Kay Nixon displayed a child's patchwork purse and quilted placemats; Carol Village, barbecue aprons; Susan Maze, jacket and fleece fashion covers for hand and wrist braces and ruffled scarves. The program featured Sanders' kits for Valentine pincushions and Mittie Freese's neckties and cellphone covers. Members will make these items and display them at the April 2 meeting.
