WEIRTON - On Friday, Weir High School students and faculty came together to remember two of their own.
Members of the school's Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y clubs faced off against teachers in a charity volleyball game, with all proceeds dedicated to scholarship funds in memory of Kristin Andrews and Aaron Davies.
Andrews was diagnosed with both acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia in June 2006. She died seven months later in January 2007.

Davies was in the seventh grade when he was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. He died a little more than three years later in 2005, at the age of 16.
They were both members of the Weir High Class of 2007.
According to Weir High Principal Dan Enich, the volleyball game was started several years ago by teacher Pete Rohal, initially in an attempt to help show support for both students as they battled their conditions.
"It's been kept alive by the students and teachers," he said.
On Friday, teacher Stacy Ruiz was among those set to take part in the charity game.
Ruiz noted both students were active in school, being members of athletic teams and various clubs, including the Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y groups. Davies mother, Connie, also is a teacher at Weir High School.
"We donate the proceeds to the scholarship funds," Ruiz said.
Faculty members wore orange T-shirts, a color, used in Davies' memory, while students wore lime green shirts in honor of Andrews.
In addition to the scholarships, several charitable organizations and events also have been created in the students' memories.
Kelsey's Christmas, organized by Andrews' sister, Kelsey, distributes pajamas, slippers and toys to cancer patients at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh during the holiday season. The field house used by the Rotary Youth Soccer League was named in Andrews' memory in 2010.
In 2012, a park on Terrace Heights was been named after Davies, and blood drives, a golf tournament and other fundraisers have been held in his name.
