Weirton Daily Times

Two members received special honors when the Mingo Lions Club held its March dinner meeting at the Mingo Medical Group Office Building.

Bill Snyder gave the opening prayer.

President James Freiling presented Bill Snyder and Terry Snyder with a 10-year Monarch Chevron on having completed 10 years as a Lion. This award is from Lions Clubs International in appreciation of "your dedicated service and belief that changing a life or the world starts with each one of us."

Pennies were turned in by Jo Ann Johns and the Milewskys.

Freiling provided members with an update on workshops he attended with respect to reorganizing the Wintersville Lions Club.

Jo Ann Johns, Dr. William Johns, Clara Sue Milewsky, Leroy Milewsky, Bill Snyder and Terry Snyder will attend the District 13-G Convention in New Philadelphia on April 5-6.

The parade of checks also was discussed.

A report was given on the zone meeting held in Toronto in February with three Mingo members attending.

Freiling announced the Mingo Block Party will be held Aug. 9-10. He also reported that fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade Hills schoolchildren will be having a ceremony at the Cherry Blossom Park on April 15 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Bill Snyder won the drawing.

Dr. William Johns gave the closing prayer.

Kathy Freiling was a guest.

The next meeting will be held April 22. The meeting night was changed due to the ceremony at Cherry Blossom Park. It is tentatively scheduled at the new Indian Creek School Building.
