Mount Carmel to
Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church, 708 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, is preparing for its 14th church anniversary, the theme of which will be "Kingdom Building by Faith."
The observance kicks off Saturday at 6 p.m. with a concert featuring 1NE Ministry with special guest Doc Roe of Mingo Junction. 1NE (One) Ministry is presenting a different genre of music, according to a church spokesperson. On April 12 at 6 p.m., Mount Carmel will host Youth Night at "The Mount." Special guests will include Eugene Willliams with poetry, Arletta Reed and Jamar Harvey with mime, Mount Carmel Youth Mime Ministry and Light of Judah (Bethel Baptist Church) of Aliquippa, Pa.
The featured guests in concert will be the Anointed Children of God Mime Ministry from Macedonia Baptist Church in Duquesne, Pa.
On April 14, the 11 a.m. worship service will feature the Rev. Maryln C. Black of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Pittsburgh. The Rev. Melvin G. Rippy, senior pastor at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wheeling, will deliver the message at the 4 p.m. service.

Preparations are continuing for the 63rd-annual "Viva Las Vegas" ministrel show organized by the Adena Lions Club to be held at the Buckeye West Elementary School at 7:30 p.m. April 19 and 20.
The committee chairmen for the show are: ticket sales, John Lengyel; publicity, nursing home liaison for dress rehearsal and stage decorations, Dustin Kinsey; interlocutor, John Parkinson; door guards, T.C. Shields, captain; sound system, Karl Bowers; and parking, Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.
Approval was given for work done on the Adena Girls Softball team. The $1,000 will cover two dugouts and a backstop, with the Lions doing the work.
At the March business meeting, Lloyd Hutchison was commended for handling the Valentine's dinner meeting at the Farm Inn.
Bill Ralston, originally from Las Vegas, was welcomed as a new member.
Members attended a recent meeting of the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Lions Club.
Young and Drew Case will check to determine how many new flags are needed on the village green. The Adena American Legion will conduct a flag-burning on Flag Day.
The club room will be used as a voting site in the May primary.
Nancy Ann Walker was presented the Orange "G" for the club working with youth in the community. Leadership school will be in Uhrichsville on May 4.
Square dance club
The Ohio Valley Promenaders Square & Round Dance Club, a nonprofit organization, will sponsor a fundraising trip to Elkins, W.Va, on May 24-26. The trip includes three shows; two breakfasts; one hobo lunch; and two dinners, including one in Timber Baron's Mansion.
