WEIRTON - The second in a series of informational seminars focused on the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will take place Wednesday at the Serbian American Cultural Center.
The series is hosted by the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce, with support from Assure America, WesBanco Insurance Services and Wells Fargo Insurance Services. The seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m., and reservations are required to take part.
This seminar - the second of three scheduled - will be titled, "Understanding the Employer Mandate." It will feature David Fields, chief executive officer of HealthAmerica, and focus on explaining the mandates that exist for employers under the law - regularly known as Obamacare - and strategies to minimize costs.
The cost of each seminar is $15 per person, which also will include a continental breakfast. The seminars, which last for approximately one hour each and include a question and answer session, are open only to members of the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The final scheduled seminar in the series is set for May 1 and called "Understanding the Individual Mandate." It will feature Fred Early, CEO of Highmark West Virginia and focus on the mandates for individuals and their potential impact on employers.
