April 7, 2013
Weirton Daily Times

To the editor:

A Caring Place, Child Advocacy Center, thanks those who made this year's fundraiser, A Minute-to-Win-It, held March 9, a huge success. Such generous contributions demonstrate the belief that children need to be shown compassion and respect, keeping in mind their future quality of life, and that there is "No Excuse for Child Abuse!" We are humbled and grateful.

I would like to thank Director MaryAnn Donnelly and the board members: Jean-Philippe Rigaud, vice president; Cynthia Morris, treasurer; Ann Dulany, secretary; Shirley DiCarlantonio, board member; Janelle Clifton, board member, and all of their family and friends.

Special thanks to all who are part of the multi-disciplinary team, who make our center possible: Dr. Stephen Mascio; Family Services Association; Jefferson County offices including behavioral health, department of job and family services, children services division, prosecutors office, sheriff's department and victims assistance; Sexual Assault Help Center; Steubenville and Wintersville police departments; and A Caring Place.

Thanks to our event volunteers: Maria Rigaud; Arlene Waywell; Kenny and Carlene Horner; Simone Dreher; Robert Donnelly; Nate Roberts and the team captains, Jeanie Blackburn, Anita Petrella, Alan Schreck and J.P. Rigaud; to Rob's Special T's for the team shirts; A Touch of Elegance Bakery for our dessert cake; to Piergallini Catering and St. Florian Hall for the great meal and service; and to Jukebox Gary and Karaoke Dave.

Thanks to businesses that helped us advertise with no cost: EM-Media and Hollywood City Center for posting our event on their electronic signs; Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce; WCDK-FM; WOGH-FM; Holy Family Parish, Wintersville parishes, and the many businesses for their help.

Thanks to Dr. David Brown, who provided the winning team prize. Brown and Wal-Mart Steubenville also enabled us to purchase a 50-inch smart LED TV for our drawing, which will be held at 6 p.m. April 25 at The Ville. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at The Ville or from any board member or volunteer.
