From staff reports , Weirton Daily Times

WEIRTON - The Top of West Virginia Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched its newly redesigned website at

The easy-to-navigate site puts everything visitors will need to plan a trip to the region at their fingertips, with clickable buttons at the top of the page for information on places to stay, eat, shop and things to do. On the left hand menu of the page the content runs a little deeper, with articles about roadside attractions, scenic drives and fairs and festivals. There's also an "added adventures" section for residents and visitors who want to dig a little deeper, getting off the beaten path and do what the locals like to do.

The site also features a link to the Top of West Virginia Facebook page, Twitter feed and YouTube Channel, and a scrolling promo showcases businesses and events throughout Brooke and Hancock counties.

"For regional residents, the best feature of the site is the community calendar," said Dan Greathouse, executive director of the Top of West Virginia CVB. "Our office posts everything that is happening in the Top of West Virginia from spaghetti dinners to concerts to bigger festivals and events. We put it right in the middle of the page so that events get top billing."

The site takes its color cues from Fiestaware, the highly collectable dinnerware produced at Hancock County's own Homer Laughlin China Co.

"The site was also created to be dynamic and change as events change," he said. "We will keep the content fresh with new things to do and see in our region."

Greathouse said the CVB is always looking for more news and information about everything happening in Brooke and Hancock counties and the city of Weirton. Site content will be managed by the Top of West Virginia CVB and updated regularly to ensure that visitors are always getting fresh news about the region.

The Top of West Virginia CVB is a joint project of Brooke and Hancock counties and the City of Weirton, dedicated to promoting tourism in the top of West Virginia. Find out more by calling 304-797-7001 or email
