CHESTER A Chester man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital following an ATV accident Thursday, according to information provided by the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.
In the press release issued Friday morning, officials reported that Hancock County 911 received a call of an ATV accident just before 8 p.m. Thursday on Locust Hill Road near the cemetery where a 19-year-old man from Chester, whose name is not being released at this time, reportedly wrecked into a tree approximately 1.5 miles into a wooded area.
Members of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office along with the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department, New Manchester Volunteer Fire Department and residents in the immediate area assisted in the extrication of the individual from the woods.
During the incident, Locust Hill Road was shut down to one lane while Allison Road, near the intersection of Locust Hill, was shut down completely to land a medical helicopter. The patient was flown to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital by STAT MedEvac after sustaining serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
"At this time, there is no evidence to suggest intoxication," said Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher of the incident.
The condition of the patient is not currently known.
