Library kicks off 'Tween Book Club'

MCDONALD, Pa. - The Heritage Public Library has begun a new "Tween Book Club," and the group will discuss "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak at 6 p.m. May 15 at the library located at 52 Fourth St.

The book discussion group meets the second Tuesday of each month and will next meet May 14, when they will discuss "State of Wonder" by Ann Patchett.

The Friends of Heritage Library will hold the spring auction drawing May 7. Tickets are two for $1 or 12 for $5. Debbie Brisky of Well Hello Cupcake designer bakery will be assisting with a bake sale May 7.

The McQuilters quilting group will meet at 10 a.m. May 8 in the community room, and the LEGO Club will meet May 30, with the theme "Space."

The Friends group will meet at 6:30 p.m. May 15 to discuss fundraising and volunteer opportunities. For information, call Pat Wyrick at (724) 926-8408.

Beautification Day will begin at 10 a.m. May 19, and volunteers are needed to help with planting and weeding. A light lunch will be served.

The library board will meet at 6:30 p.m. May 8. New board members are needed.

Adoption and foster parent information will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room.

The library is offering daily business sponsorships for $100, during which the library's phone will be answered informing callers who is sponsoring the library that day and signage will be displayed in the library. Sponsorships for Mondays and Fridays are $50. Individual sponsors pay half price. Sponsors also will be mentioned on the library's social media platforms.

The library has raised more than $2,600 for roof replacement, but additional donations are still needed.
