Road closing, work announced

Pot Rock Road near Wellsburg will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Tuesday while crews with Access Midstream install a gas line crossing.

The closing will be in effect until May 15, and Rabbit Hill Road has been named the detour. Inclement weather and other circumstances could change the project schedule.

The West Virginia Division of Highways also has announced other road work to be performed, pending suitable weather.

Crews in Brooke County will patch Grisby Lane/Tent Church Road and Windy Hill/Hukills Run Road and pull shoulders and ditches along state Route 27 and Camp Run Road.

Crews in Hancock County will patch Ohio River Boulevard, ditch along Tope Road and mow along several roads.

Mud bog scheduled at Friendship Park

SMITHFIELD - A mud bog will be held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds at noon Saturday.

Registration is at 11 a.m.

The truck entry fee is $20, with first- and second-place class finishers awarded.
