Mother's Day is a day that we celebrate the hardest working individual known to mankind. Being a mom is a 24-hour-a-day, non-stop, no days off, no holiday's off, cell phone ringing, texting, Facebooking, probably going to another job other than your main job as a mother job; really, it's a calling. Everyone is always calling your new name, not the one your parents called you, but, another name: Mo-o-o-mmm, Mo-o-o-mm, Ho-o-n-eey. Sometimes it's the sweetest sound a mother can hear, but other times it's the most annoying sound, and sometimes you just shut out the noise, until you hear that cry that really means something, like, I'm hurt! I need you! All that aside, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I know that many mothers have failed at times. Some have failed a little and some have failed a lot. You're not perfect, but God wants to bless mothers this Mother's Day.
If you are a mother who has been bound and broken by addiction to drugs, whether illegal or prescription drugs, or maybe alcohol addiction, a gambling addiction, or any addictive behavior, God has a word for you. This Mother's Day my Spirit is upon you to set you free. The chains of addiction are falling off and you are free. You will once again or for the first time be the mother and the woman that I created you to be. Draw near to me and I will heal you and give you a brand new heart.
I believe I have a word from God for all you mothers who read this and you mothers to be, and you surrogate and foster mothers. I was thinking and praying about what God would say to mothers today, and the Spirit of God led me to Luke 1:26-39. It's the story of the Angel Gabriel telling the Virgin Mary that she was blessed above all women and highly favored. Mary was afraid, because of this powerful blessing, but Gabriel told her that she had found favor with God. She would have a son and He would be called, the Son of God, and He would be great and save His people.
Gabriel told her that the Holy Spirit of God would come upon her and overshadow her to do this seemingly impossible miracle, because everything is possible with God. Mary so humbly answered: "Be it unto me, even as you have said, I am the Lord's servant."
As I have observed over my 55 years of life, mothers have a nearly impossible job, but somehow with the God's Grace and favor they are able to do it and do it well.
I believe God gave me this word for you on Mother's Day.
Bless you Christian mothers! Rejoice! You have the favor, the blessings of God upon you. The Lord is with you, and you are blessed among women. Humble yourself just like Mary did when God blessed her with motherhood.
Don't be afraid of this great task. Just like Mary you have found favor with God. You will have sons and daughters who will follow Jesus. Your children will be great and do great things because they will be called sons and daughters of God. This is possible because the Holy Spirit will come upon you and overshadow you with His power and in your hearts you will conceive the Living Word of God to pour out into your children and grandchildren, your family and your city.
If your mother has passed and this is a hard day for you, may the Lord comfort you with the sweet memories of times spent together.
May forgiveness and mercy and restoration come to those who have a strained relationship with their mothers. God Bless you! Life is short. Love deeply; seek God with all your hearts, and love mom with all you have. She won't be with you forever. Find a life giving church near you and thank God for mom and family. God is speaking; I pray He gives you ears to hear today.
