Hancock Schools Credit Union
names scholarship winners
WEIRTON - Hancock School Employees Federal Credit Union of Weirton awarded two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors Jessica M. Derby of Weir High School and Rebecca M. Olashuk of Tinora High School.
They were chosen by lottery. Samantha A. Lengyel and Lauren B. Hoffman are the alternates.
Derby plans to attend Ohio Northern University.
To be eligible, students must have been credit union members for at least six months. There were 11 applicants.
The credit union serves school employees and students in Brooke and Hancock counties.
Volleyball clinic scheduled
MOUNDSVILLE - The John Marshall High School volleyball team will host the third annual youth clinic from 10 a.m. to noon June 17-19 at the high school gymnasium.
The camp and volleyball program are focused on empowering young women by growing their confidence, encouraging physical activity and promoting involvement. The camp will focus on overhand serving, forearm passing, overhand passing, hitting and blocking and cover defensive systems and offensive strategy for upper grade level players and fundamentals for young players. Sally McNally, 2011 Two Rivers Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, and the John Marshall coaching staff will run the camp.
It is open to girls entering fourth through eighth grades. The cost is $40 and includes a T-shirt and awards ceremony. There are 75 spots available; registration closes May 27.

Church holding Bible school
MINGO JUNCTION, Ohio - George's Run United Methodist Church will hold vacation Bible school from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 3-7 at the church located on state Route 151 and Tarr Hill Road.

NEW CUMBERLAND - The New Cumberland Free Methodist Church and The Arbor will hold vacation Bible school from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. June 10-14 at the church on South Chester Street.
It is open to children in pre-school through sixth grade. It will include games, snacks and music.
