RILEY, Eddie E. "Candy Man," 85, of Steubenville died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Trinity West.

He was born March 14, 1927, in Flint Hill, VA. He is the Son of the late Joseph and Lilly Welch Riley.

Eddie is also preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Clifton, Sylvester, Joseph, and Wiley; two sisters, Bertha Welch and Gertrude Lee Flegas.

Eddie was a candy maker for 65 years and the owner and operator of the former Gertrude Lee Candy Store along with his wife for 36 years.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Virginia Venci Riley; one son, Edward J. (Connie) Riley of Steubenville; four daughters, Barbara Wood of Steubenville, Janet (Lenny) Stasiulewicz of Wintersville, Patricia Riley of Steubenville, and Virginia "Bunny" (Joseph) Dussault of Columbus; one sister, Cindy Matthews of Harrisburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Jennifer, Jimmy, Jason, Edward, Jr., Tommy, and Jessica; three great -grandchildren, Nicholas, Julia, and Jordan.

Eddie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a Former member of the PAC and The Knights of St. Anthony, served his country in U.S. Army during World War II, was an avid gardner and was the sweetest candy maker there ever was.

Calling hours are Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Monsignor Gerald Calovini, celebrant.

Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
