Trail station will celebrate
National Trails Day June 1
MCDONALD, Pa. - The McDonald Trail Station will celebrate National Trails Day with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon June 1 at the trail station and meeting house on South McDonald Street.
The cost is $5 for adults, and $3 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door.
The annual fleatique and flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 27 at the station. All vendors, including food and craft vendors and those holding yard sales, are welcome. The deadline for signing up is July 23 and set up begins at 8 a.m. July 27. Writers conference scheduled
RIPLEY - The 35th West Virginia Writers Inc. conference will be held June 7-9 at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center.
The event will include more than 50 workshops, readings, contests, a silent auction and a pop-up bookstore featuring West Virginia Writers.
West Virginia Poet Laureate Marc Harshman will be the keynote speaker.
More than 20 authors will present workshops on poetry, marketing, fiction, writing for children, nonfiction, play writing, screenwriting and social media.
Literary agents Christine Witthohn of Book Cents Literary Agency and Marlene Stringer of Stringer Literary Agency will be in attendance. In addition to teaching workshops and participating in a panel discussion, they will be taking book pitches.

Fundraiser offers Chinese auction
WEIRTON - The Guglielmo Scholarship Foundation will hold the Wine in the Woods fundraiser from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 9 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds.
The event will include a Chinese auction with items including a woman's watch, photography package, hotel stays, concert tickets, a barrel of wine and baskets donated by local merchants.
The cost is $10 per person.
