NEW CUMBERLAND - The New Cumberland, Newell and Chester Lions Clubs recently honored the Oak Glen High School Lions Scholars of the Month at a banquet.

Hancock County Commissioner Mike Swartzmiller, an Oak Glen alumni, was the speaker. He spoke about how goals can change and how the scholars need to be prepared and adjust, drawing from personal experience.

Each scholar is chosen for dedication to academics, participation in clubs and sports and community volunteer efforts. Scholars must demonstrate responsibility, commitment and leadership. At the spring dinner, the Lions give each scholar a certificate and gift.
