Off to college

May 28, 2013
Weirton Daily Times
Brooke High senior Alec Buchmelter, flanked by his parents Tim and Penny Buchmelter, will continue his academic and athletic careers at West Virginia Wesleyan, where he will major in economics and be a member of the football team. Buchmelter was a three-year starter for the Bruins, leading the team to the West Virginia Class AAA state championship game as a sophomore. He finished his career with more than 5,600 yards of offense. Buchmelter, who was a first-team all-OVAC performer, will play for head coach George Shehl, who was named to the position in December. Wesleyan is a member of the newly formed Mountain East Conference. Also on hand for the signing were Bruins head coach Sean Blumette and principal Toni Shute.
