Boys and girls tennis camp to

begin Monday at Starvaggi

WEIRTON - A tennis camp for boys and girls 7 and older will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through June 14 at Starvaggi Park.

It will include fundamental instruction and skill games and drills. Sandi Gajtka and Sue Wesie are coordinating.

The cost is $60 per child. Each child must have a tennis racquet and two cans of tennis balls.

Tennis for Teens set for Tuesday

WEIRTON - Tennis for Teens will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Starvaggi Park.

It is open to teens aged 14 to 19 at all skill levels. Jeff Gajtka will coordinate the session. Registration is $12.

Shiloh hosting fun fest

WEIRTON - Shiloh Apostolic Church will host a free summer fun fest for adults and children from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Weirton Event Center.

The theme is "His Banner Over Me is Love - God is Love." The event will include crafts, food, games, music and a message.

Library holding registration

WEIRTON - Registration for the Mary H. Weir Public Library's summer reading program, "Dig into Reading," will be taken through June 18.

Activities will include gem mining, exploring the sea, learning about plants and creating an art display.

The program will run June 19-Aug. 1. Those children 3- to 5-years-old will meet from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, and those 6- to 8-years-old will meet from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays. Those 9- to 11-years-old will meet from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays and those 12 and older will meet from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays.

Group size is limited, and those registering first will be given priority. Inquire at the circulation desk.

Fundraiser helps neighborhood center

WEIRTON - Bob Evans will hold a community fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 22 with 15 percent of sales from the Weirton, Highlands and Woodsdale restaurants going to Catholic Charities West Virginia's Catholic Neighborhood Center.

It is available for both dine-in and carry-out, and a flyer must be presented at check out.

Kiwanis holding chicken dinner

WELLSBURG - The Kiwanis Club of Wellsburg will hold a barbecue chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 27 at the 12th Street Fire Station.

Meals include one-half chicken, baked potato, apple sauce, roll and dessert and are served in take-out containers. Meals are $8.

Moose to host hypnosis show

WEIRTON - Hypnotist Jason Christopher will perform a comedy hypnosis show at 8 p.m. June 28 at Weirton Moose Lodge 688 located at 3963-67 Main St. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by visiting the lodge at 3 p.m. or calling (304) 748-4707l. The performance benefits the lodge and Moose Charities.

Coleman to hold basketball camp

WEIRTON - Coach Mel Coleman will host his 29th annual basketball camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8-12 at the Mercy Baptist Church's Bush Center located 3474 Pennsylvania Ave.

It is open to girls and boys aged 6 to 18. It is the longest-running basketball camp in the Tri-State Area.

All campers receive a T-shirt, lunch and lessons from qualified staff and instructors.
