WEIRTON - Despite overcast skies and a different time of day, the annual Greater Weirton Senior Center Fun Run still brought in a crowd of participants and guests Friday.
The annual motorcycle ride, which departed the senior center at 6 p.m., is the senior center's biggest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds going toward the center's operational costs.
This year saw more than 30 motorcycle riders, plus several passengers take part.
The Fun Run traditionally has been held on a Saturday afternoon with multiple stops across the Tri-State Area. Senior center officials said they wanted to make some changes, adjusting the ride and adding a few activities, in the hope of drawing in more riders.
"We wanted to try something different," Senior Center Coordinator Shari Dami said
The riders were set to spend two hours on their trip, making a stop at the Bavington Inn near Burgettstown, Pa., before returning to Weirton. Jim Sheehan led the riders along the route.

"They're just doing the one stop," Dami said. "Then they'll be back for the buffet and entertainment."
Upon returning, participants and guests were able to have a buffet dinner, take part in several prize drawings and listen to musical entertainment provided by Hank Vincent and the Stonestreet Station.
