AVELLA, Pa. - The Avella Public Library has announced a few of its summer programs.
The big event for the summer is the summer reading program, and this year kids will get to "Dig into Reading" from 10:30 p.m. to noon July 10, 17, 24 and 31. All ages are welcome. Call (724) 587-5688 to register.
The program will focus on all things underground such as archaeology, burrowing animals, fossils and root vegetables. Under the guidance of former Fort Cherry Schools teacher Sheila Carter and volunteers, the program will offer informational projects of all sorts. Children will explore this theme through books, art and hands-on adventures.
Library Director Melissa Ansell has asked that all overdue items be returned to the library and that all fines be paid. Members will not receive a new library card, borrow other items or use the computers if fines aren't paid. The library can not afford to replace unreturned items.
Library hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday.
