WEIRTON - The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary held their monthly meeting June 10 at the Serbian American Cultural Center located on Colliers Way.
The group welcomed new member Lillian Howell, the wife of Tri-State Marine Corps Club member Francis Howell of New Cumberland.
President Joan Spano called the meeting to order and presided over the business session. Chaplain Mary Ann Smith led devotions and gave the invocation with special prayers for Jake Killen, Gertie Hanlin, Joan Spano, George Tremblay, Jean Hanlin, Wanda Perrone, Larry and Debbie Hundagen, Rose Mary Dawson, Jaime Maravich and Carolyn Mirabella.
Peg Dawson led the Pledge of Allegiance in Elizabeth Shipe's absence. Vice President Darlene Kemp called roll. In Secretary Carol Lyons' absence, Marcy Spano read the May minutes, which were approved as read, and a thank-you card from the Barboursville West Virginia Veterans Home for sending birthday cards to residents. In Treasurer Maxine Ragan's absence, Marcy Spano gave the treasurer's report.
In Sunshine Chair Mary Ann Elliott's absence, Shirley Brecht gave the Sunshine report. Get-well cards were sent to Tina Spano, Linda Elliott, George Tremblay, Gertie Hanlin and Joan Spano, and sympathy cards were sent to Shirley Jenkins and Jim and Mary Jurosko.
Historian Marcy Spano passed out pictures to members.
Elizabeth Shipe, Lavonne Balint and Mary Ann Elliott celebrated June birthdays.
Joan Spano sent birthday cards to veterans home residents. Maxine Ragan placed a wreath on the auxiliary's behalf and Jim Jurosko placed one on the club's behalf at the May 27 Memorial Day ceremony.
The auxiliary is continuing to take donations for its no-bake bake sale.
Mary Arlia won the 50/50 drawing.
Brecht, Marcy Spano and Lillian Howell will be reading devotions for the next several months.
Auxiliary members signed cards for adopted veteran Danny Lyons.
JoAnn Johns and Joan Spano served refreshments, and Tina Spano and Vicki Parr will be responsible for refreshments in July, Carol Lyons and Leroy Bee in August, Mary Ann Smith and Mary Arlia in September, Maxine Ragan and Lavonne Balint in October, and Elizabeth Shipe and Tiffanie Handly in November.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. July 8.
