Dr. George M. Arnas

ARNAS, George M., M.D., passed away peacefully in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on June 14, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Audrey in 2011, and his parents, Manolis and Evangeline Arnas.

Born in Weirton, WV on September 30, 1931, he was a graduate of Follansbee High School in 1949. He earned a pre-med bachelor's degree from West Virginia University and his medical degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., where he finished as chief resident. He served as an associate professor at Jefferson Medical University while in private practice.

Dr. Arnas served his country in the U.S. Navy as a medical officer at the Naval Health Clinic in Cherry Point, North Carolina.

He was an active member of the Saint Thomas Greek Orthodox Church of Cherry Hill, N.J., a member of the Ahepa Chapter, and a strong supporter of the Saint Basil's Children's Academy.

He will always be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his practice, and his ability to comfort others with his sense of humor.

He leaves behind his daughter, Angelique (Frank) Aiello; his son, Michael G. Arnas; his adoring grandsons, George and Andrew Aiello; his two sisters, Dorothea Stakias and Olga Adams; his cousin, John Arnas and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on June 20, 2013.

Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church PO Box 128 Weirton, WV 26062 or to the Saint Thomas Greek Orthodox Church, Cherry Hill, N.J. or to Saint Basil's Academy. Garrison, N.Y.
