WEIRTON - The American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary held a meeting June 17, with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order and presiding over the business session.
Chaplain Wanda Perrone gave the invocation; Brecht led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Preamble to the American Legion Auxiliary Constitution; Secretary Clara Robinson called the officers' roll and distributed the May meeting minutes, which were approved as read; and Treasurer Loretta Fabian gave the financial report, which will be audited at 1:30 p.m. July 8 at the post. The Audit Committee includes Betty Chappell, Martha Holstein and Edith Truax. Robinson read thank-you notes from Milton Fabianich of the Last Man's Club and Veterans' Affairs in Pittsburgh.
Membership Committee Chair Gloria Jerrel reported Girls State members will attend the July meeting. Poppy Chair Pat Folden announced this year's Miss Poppy will be Raena McKinney, 7. She will be accompanied in the Fourth of July Parade by Brecht and her grandparents, Wayne and Darlene Kemp. The Sons of the Legion will hold a steak fry July 19, and the auxiliary will provide desserts. The Legion picnic will be Aug. 18, and more details will be announced as they come available. The auxiliary is holding a cabbage roll sale Sept. 13. The group installed the 2013 officers, including President Brecht, Vice President Pat Folden, Secretary Clara Robinson, Treasurer Gloria Jerrel, Chaplain Marcy Spano, Sergeant-at-Arms Wanda Perrone and Historian Joan Spano. Chris Barker won the 50/50. Clara Robinson and Loretta Fabian will serve at the 6:30 p.m. July 15 meeting. Spano gave the closing prayer, and Brecht closed the meeting.
